Well my phone has fallen into the dreaded boot loop due to the SOC chipset issue. Back to my Nexus 5 while I look for a new phone.

Mine died too. If you could speak Chinese, there is a guy in China that fixes that and upgrades the CPU + RAM for cheap.

In Malaysia at least I got a fix only quote of RM580 (USD 180)
Screw that, I am just buying the Mi A1 as a replacement and companion to my S7E.
Wait for Pixel 2? Or just go with something like OnePlus 5.
so..you can actually upgrade the SoC and the hardware won't complain?
Basically. The Malaysian shop I asked is probably not worth the money since the BGA resoldering job might not be lasting.
Yah there is a work around which disables the bad cores but not worth it
+Vincent H might be Pixel since I'm looking at project fi … Donno
but I do like the Essential phone design and look
+Francis Huang Coolness aside, here is something to consider if you go with Essential phone: https://plus.google.com/+SeanBires/posts/f4a5W91HRxu
+Vincent H I saw Sean's camera post as well. That's partially why I'm waiting for the release of the other phones in early October
+Francis Huang Nokia 8? The Moto family of devices? There are many choices now.
+Meng Shen Lim true. Leaning towards the pixel 2 since the 835 chip seems more stable and will work with Google Fi… Other might be Xperia lineup if Pixel is too expensive.
