Happy Friday Everyone! We’re back for another Friday posting. I’ve started on Square Enix’s The 3rd Birthday for the PSP. Which is another installment to the Parasite Eve series.

For those who have not heard of the Parasite Eve series, you can check out Wikipedia’s entries:

Aya Brea’s history, the protagonist in the series:
Aya Brea

It has been a few years since the original series and this definitely brings some nostalgia. P.E. has always been a good balance for me in terms that it’s still a horror but I’m given the complete fright/scare in the environment as the Resident Evil series (yeah yeah, I love the series but personally not my cup of tea).

The general game play still follows the past with lock to aim, fire, change weapons, and PE abillities. Square also added a few new moves given the story has an almost Back to the Future theme going. Off I go back to the game. =)

Toriko! Ummy Nomminess

Hmm is it tasty?

Spring anime season is in gear. So following up on the One Piece x Toriko collaboration special episode, I decided to take a look at this series.

Japan has always been a fan of food (aren’t we all?) and there’s been various series to this. I recall reading Addicted to Curry, Yakitake! Japan, Sushi Boy, and the list goes on and on. Even in other series such as Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bakuretsu Hunters there have been many references for the love of food or in massive quantities or both.

It’s a shonen series but what’s not to love about food? Basic plot is as follows courtesy of Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toriko)

“In a world where the taste and texture of food is extremely important, there exist individuals known as Gourmet Hunters (美食屋 Bishokuya?) who specialize in the acquisition of rare ingredients and animals. Toriko is one of these hunters and it is his dream to find the most precious foods in the world and create the ultimate dinner course. As one of the most skilled hunters in the world, he is regularly hired by restaurants and the rich to seek out new ingredients and rare animals. A man with inhuman ability, he utilizes his incredible strength and knowledge of the animal kingdom to capture ferocious, evasive, and rare beasts to further his ultimate goal. He is accompanied by a weak and timid chef who, inspired by Toriko’s ambition, travels with him to improve his culinary skills and to find rare ingredients. An organization that seeks to take control of the world’s entire food supply increases the struggle. “

This series has unique and fantastic animal diversity such as a BBQ Pigs that are already self grilled (talk about convenience).

Hmm...instant BBQ

These outrageous anime and world does parallel One Piece and its slapstick humor. Which makes me drawn into this series. If you’re a fan of food and One Piece, this might be a series for you.
